Cue what seems to be 15 minutes of pointless comedy as ‘Christ” switched Angel’s exam papers with joke papers for every exam. Their plan was to distract the entire class while Christ switches – with stuff like stripping and professing their love for the teacher, and then ejecting from their seats into the ceiling.
So in the end, their plan succeeds
just as planned and Angel resigns from her post. Operation Tornado starts again, with the random music inserts and what not.
Angel doesn’t attack them, she just becomes passive, they eat their dinner, but scratch that.
I can’t keep on reviewing this episode. Something is burning within me. A powerful need to post about something.
Posting about Kanade.
All of a sudden, she makes me want to buy Dengeki G.
But I digress. I’m here to talk about her character.
She’s my favourite character in this season right now.
Why? She’s not only the most mysterious, she’s the one which makes you toss about in bed, thinking about her situation.
After she resigns, she doesn’t attack the SSS anymore, even giving Otonashi her coupon for the school’s insanely hot Mapo Tofu. People probably say that this is nothing much, but I think otherwise. I’m intrigued to watch the rest of Angel Beats because of her. Who is she? Why is she here? Everyone has some kind of an emotional, traumatic backstory in Angel Beats, so I’m sure she has one too.
It’s like she’s a killing machine freed from the will of her master. Freedom – but what are the repercussions?
Her situation also makes you wonder : Is there a God at all? If not for her existence, Angel Beats would suck. If they replaced her with some kind of killing drone, it’d suck. Which was why I kind of like her now. She gives the entire series something which brings it above the others. Comedy? Check. Slice of life? Check. Psychological? Slightly, check. Fantasy? Check. Action? Check. Imagine Clannad~AS or some other sad Animecombined with all the fighting anime you can think of – add weaponry and God, and you’ve got Angel Beats. It’s twisting every single anime cliche.
So in conclusion, the reason I like Kanade is because:
- She’s mysterious and has thought-provoking
- She brings an edge to Angel Beats
- She’s kuudere
- She’s less annoying than the other characters.
- She just makes me feel sad…
