Black Rock Shooter – is it judgement day?
After watching Episode 5 of BRS, we see the toll that the recent spate of events has taken on Yomi’s well-being. We watch her gradual descent into madness, with bracelets strung with her own hair and her obsession with cutting everything in her room up. We find out the ending to the story of the bird with the rainbow-coloured wings; how it eventually becomes black, dull and dies. We even see Saya trying to kill Mato in the most literal sense. Surely, this show must have entered the realm of psychological anime right?
No doubts about that. But is it a good anime?
Black Rock Shooter: Symbolic or try-hard?
With every season, comes at least one anime which seems as though it’s trying to become thought-provoking, with some doing so rather successfully: Puella Magi Madoka Magica, for instance, turning the Mahou Shoujo trope on its end. The blogosphere is now abuzz with discussions on Ordet’s latest 8-episode offering, Black Rock Shooter. Will BRS live up to its initial hype, or will it just burn out?

Post 350: reminiscence – we are all getting old.
….. And once again, we hit another 50 posts. Despite our posting rates decreasing, the blog somehow maintains the same number of readers per day, with a nice range of 0 to 1. Sigh. How I regret not posting more when I was younger. Back in the day you could post 3-sentence long posts and still receive thousands of views. Nowadays the young uns’ are so picky with their posts, having a beef with the opinions of other whippersnappers everywhere.
In another related news, we’re about well on our way to death. We’re getting old. We can’t write posts without having to strain our backs or needing assistance to remember what we were going to write to begin with. One thing we can remember, of course, is the game our origins. How and when we started blogging, why we ended up in this dump in the middle of Internet nowhere. And hence for post 350, we simply reflect on our pasts. I better keep writing before I forget my name again.
Black Rock Shooter sequel unconfirmed – Aki Takanori denies saying that BRS 2 had been approved.
If you were looking forward to BRS 2, I’m sorry, but you’ll have to wait much, much longer. According to GSC President Aki Takanori’s twitter, the rumour that BRS 2 was confirmed that was spread through twitter was false – the fact was that BRS 2 had not received approval yet.
Roughly translated:
@Kusima It’s not that there is no possibility of a sequel to Black Rock Shooter, but our eagerness in making a sequel had been treated as an official announcement in AFA. Nevertheless, we’ll work towards getting a sequel.
So in other words, a sequel to BRS is unconfirmed : meaning that the possibility of no sequel at all is still entirely possible.

What’s a convention without exhibits? Of course, for an event like AFA, one can’t help but expect to see figurines everywhere, but that’s unrelated.

Sequel to Black Rock Shooter announced
During Kana Hanazawa’s Q&A and Live Dubbing session at Anime Festival Asia X today, GSC president Aki Takanori (?) announced that a sequel to Black Rock Shooter will be made with Kana once again, taking the role of Kuroi Mato, better known as Black Rock Shooter. When it’ll be released, he did not say.
