Summer 2012 First Impressions – Kingdom
It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be. In fact, I think it’s pretty good…
Not.
I was really surprised when they actually used CGI for the whole anime. Studio Pierrot, you are not Pixar. Stop this madness. If you’re going to use CGI, you have to use it well, like how they did it in BRS.
Aside from the CGI abuse, the fight choreography for Kingdom is so ridiculous, I ended up deriving enjoyment out of how much the fight scenes sucked… and that’s about the only praise I can give Kingdom on the technical side of things, which isn’t really doing wonders for my first impression of it.
Then there’s the story. I have to give props to whoever wrote this because it had genuinely good moments. All of the events might be derivatives of shounen anime staples, but they didn’t bother me as much as I was expecting they would. However, shounen staples are still shounen staples, no matter how much sugar you put on top. It’s predictable, trite and uninspired.
In conclusion, my failure to either praise or bash this show really says something. I’m really uninterested in this anime.

I can’t believe this is all you had to say. I simply can’t believe you didn’t bash it horribly like almost every other blogger who watched the show.
You must be kinder than I thoughtYou can say that I just don’t care about this show to even insult it. That’s how bad it is.
Or my hiatus had an effect on how I write. I’ll get back on track soon enough.
Terrible 3D animation. Totally unwatchable.
